Scuba Diving

Today Clinton and I started our open water PADI scuba diving course down at Southport, Gold Coast with QLD Scuba Diving Company.

This was the first day of three, with the final day being next Saturday 31st March.

We started with some theory and learnt about the equipment and how to set this up. Once complete we headed out on the boat and made our way to wave break island (below on map marked with A)

The clarity was at 10-15 metres this morning, which was amazing! There was so many fish, and they didn't seem to mind that we were intruding on their world. By midday the clarity was only about 5 metres, and by this time we were 6m underwater. We were able to feed the fish by breaking up muscles from the rocks underwater and they ate this right out of our hands. We saw an eel, sting ray, played with a sea cucumber, and as mentioned before saw plenty of fish!

The day ended with another theory lesson followed by a trip to Nandos for a late lunch.

We are both very much looking forward to our next dive tomorrow. We are told we will reach 12m tomorrow!
