"Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans"

Electronics

One of my interests is electronics. I love being able to make up any solution to a problem myself instead of finding some pre-made thing online that doesn't quite fit the job. I did some robotics in University and loved it. One of the other uses for developing this skill is boats. To fix up and maintain a boat you will need some sort of knowledge about running 12v lines and keeping the boat safe from shorts and replacing old wires that the salty air has got to.

Over the past few years I've been trying to keep my skills and knowledge moving along in electronics (fitting it into my mountain of other hobbies is increasingly difficult).

I recently bought an Arduino board from Jaycar and have been experimenting with it. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get into programming microprocessors and general electronics. My first plan is to use it with a 3 axis accelerometer to keep a RC place level in flight without needing to control it from a radio transmitter.

I'm also thinking of creating a deadlock that works via a keypad that I can put on my front door so I don't need keys anymore.

The first step for the plane project was to get the accelerometer and hook it up to a LCD screen so I could understand the outputs and how responsive the board I bought is.
